Astrophotos

One of my hobbies is to explore the night sky and to take pictures of comets, planets or deep sky objects. I am located in the light polluted city Vienna in Austria.

Equipment

I am using a photographic LACERTA newton 250/1000 f/4 on a Skywatcher AZ EQ6 mount and a Skywatcher Esprit 100ED on an EQ6-pro. The telescopes are equipped with coma correctors, as  cameras I am using  ZWO ASI 1600mm cooled cameras with motorized filter wheels. The guiding is performed by the standalone MGEN guider or PHD2, the focusers are motorized. The whole setup is controlled by a windows laptop via Ascom and Eqmod and N.I.N.A.  For planetary images I am using a QHY 5-II and an ASI ZWO 224 MC video camera. For solar images I am using a Coronado Solarmax II 60 telescope with H-alpha filter.

Image processing

The ususal workflow after collecting the lights, flats and darkflats is to calibrate and stack them  and then process them with Pixinsight and do final corrections with Photoshop. The videos recorded of planetary objects are stacked with Autostakkert and then processed with Registax, Photoshop and Pixinsight.
